About the results of the 1st round of the City Olympiad in Mathematics

This Olympiad once again showed that you should prepare for mathematical Olympiads, and in order to win – to work fruitfully independently, in circles, with coaches… Just even the highest score in algebra and geometry at school (or simply in mathematics) does not indicate the ability to solve interesting, albeit rather simple Olympiad problems.

On the other hand, we made a mistake in the selection of geometric problems. It is well known that Ukrainian schoolchildren usually solve geometric problems very well at various international competitions, and at the IMO we always vote for complex geometric problems. But this year's selection of geometric problems in the first round was very difficult. As the teachers told me that they analyzed these tasks, the tasks are interesting, do not go beyond the program, but the skills, experience and skills were not appropriate for the class. I hope that this will not happen again in the 2nd round.

After the first round, a bottle of water, a blue thermos and black gloves were found. On this occasion, contact the organizing committee during the second round. Also, there was a white hat with a cervy. You can pick up in the wardrobe.

About the 2nd round of Kyiv City Olympiad

Distributing audiences

I remind you that in the second round of the Olympiad all the participants who are highlighted by color in the final results fall. All of them are already prize-winners of the city Olympiad, and the distribution of diplomas will be determined by the sum of the results in two rounds.

We remind you about the date, time and place of the 2nd round.

Appeal of the 2nd round of the Olympiad

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

beginning at 15:00

All classes are at the Humanities Institute of Kyiv University. B.D. Grinchenko (Marshala Timoshenko Street, 13b).

Jury work

The work of the jury is somewhat simpler compared to working in the first round. High school students and their deputies come as usual at 9:15 and work at the Olympiad while the children write the Olympiad. All other jury members arrive for a check no later than 3 p.m. or in audience 503, or in an audience to test the appropriate class if they are already free. No pre-inspection meetings are scheduled. As well as the completion of the check in each parallel occurs autonomously as in the first round. Senior officers for each task, who will definitely attend the appeal, are also due to be identified on Wednesday.
