Order on selection
Let me remind you of this year's IMO selection order:
Upon completion of this selection, it turned out that the "relevant units of education and science of local executive authorities, institutions or individual educational institutions dispatching a team or individual participants" from Kharkiv, Lviv and Chernivtsi are not going to carry it out. Everyone thinks it's too late. It seems that someone should pay for everything, and since I agreed personally for holding it in the IPO of Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (where, as for me, ideal conditions for its conduct) I agreed personally, then this one should be me. That is, for the stay of 10 students from these cities who lived and ate from May 3 to May 9, the costs should be borne not by those who send, but by the organizers of the selection. At the same time, rather, the jury of selection, which I headed at these selections. In my appeals to colleagues, for some reason, everyone immediately notes that it was necessary to warn about this in advance, like it is too late and no one will give money because the selection was carried out.
BUT WHAT SHOULD I HAVE WARNED ABOUT IN ADVANCE???
The fact that there is an order for selection and should it be read, followed and carried out? If the relevant students were taken to Kyiv for selection, then probably their surnames were found in this order and without my warning – to look for whether these students got into the order. But financial issues for some reason went past the attention.
We have always held mathematical events openly and transparently, the conditions are always known in advance. To pay for the selection, and not to pay, I can not, then I will have to borrow a significant amount, which in the future will still have to give. I have the costs of the jury's stay in the selection, as far as the participants are involved, it's not my problem. Therefore, I ask the relevant educational structures from Haokov, Lviv and Chernivtsi to respond and pay the cost of your students' stay at this year's IMO selection. This can be done in two ways – either transfer the appropriate amount to the Athena Charitable Foundation, or simply provide your details for payment, and these details will be billed for your students to stay in the selection.
If you believed that your financial capabilities for the participation of these students were exhausted, then you did not need to send students for this selection, or ask all these questions and discuss these issues with the Ministry of Education and Science.
Otherwise, your students' stay at the IMO selection was "out of order" and the selection jury may ask questions about their participation "outside the competition", that is, without the right to take a place in the Team of Ukraine at the IMO.
