From April 6 to April 12, the Sixth European Mathematical Olympiad for Girls was held in Zurich, Switzerland. The Ukraine team has been a permanent participant of this competition since the very first Olympiad, which was held in 2012 in Cambridge, Great Britain, and in which only 19 teams took part. This year 168 participants from 44 countries (including 11 guest countries) came to the Olympiad.
Ukraine at the competition was represented by: Olga Shevchenko (Academic Gymnasium No. 45, Kharkiv), Alina Garbuzova (Kharkiv Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 27), Alina Yan (Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), Yulia Zdanovska (Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv).
The team leaders were Andriy Aikoushin and Yulia Kravchenko.
The national team arrived in Zurich on the evening of April 6. The next day, the participants were waiting for a rich program: they took part in the game Scavenger Hunt, which helped them to get acquainted with participants from other countries, as well as learn more about the historical sights of the city.
In the evening, a grand opening ceremony took place at the Federal Higher Technical School of Zurich (whose student was once Albert Einstein).
On Saturday and Sunday, the first and second rounds of the Olympiad took place (3 tasks for 4.5 hours). At the end of the tour, the participants were waiting for an interesting entertainment program: a variety of sports games, a swimming pool, a trip to the Uetliberg mountain.
