First information message
In pursuance of the Program of work with gifted youth, the Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv-Pechersk Lyceum No. 171 "Leader" and the Charitable Foundation "Athena" plan to hold the "Eighth All-Ukrainian Tournament of Mathematical Battles named after Academician Lyashko I.I." for young mathematicians of Ukraine of grades 7-11.
The tournament is open from October 31 to November 5, 2014.
The tournament aims at the following tasks:
- involvement of young mathematicians in creative competition;
- preparation of young Ukrainian mathematicians for All-Ukrainian Olympiads of all levels;
- promoting the establishment of professional and friendly contacts of students of the tournament participants by teachers, scientists, the best students and postgraduate students of leading Ukrainian universities;
- communication with representatives of Ukraine at the International Olympiads of Young Mathematicians.
The organizer and coordinator of the tournament is Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, with the support of educational institutions in Kyiv. The competition is planned to be held in three age groups: junior league (students of 8 and junior classes), middle league (students of 9th grade) and senior league (students of 10-11 grades). The program of the tournament includes a team olympiad, 4 rounds of mathematical battles and an oral personal Olympiad.
The task for the Tournament is prepared by a qualified jury, which has been training the participants of the Ukrainian team for the International Mathematical Olympiads for more than one year. The tournament is held within the framework of autumn instructional meetings, to participate in the Tournament we invite the winners of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Mathematics, students of the leading mathematical educational institutions of Ukraine, as well as everyone, provided that the number of participants will be within reasonable limits.
Teams consisting of 6 students in each league will take part in the tournament. Of the individual students who wish to participate in the tournament, at a time when their school or region cannot (or do not prefer) to send a full team of 6 students, teams will be formed to fully participate in the competition. To register a team or individual participants, you must fill out the appropriate form on this site by October 15, 2014, and it is also desirable to inform the jury chairman Rublev Bohdan Vladyslavovych by e-mail or phone (contact details are indicated at the end of the message). Applications for participation can be submitted by teachers of schools and universities, heads of clubs and electives, parents and schoolchildren themselves. Each application will be considered and an appropriate ruling will be made regarding it.
The tournament is held on the basis of self-financing. The organizational fee for each participant of the tournament and the team leader is not 1000 UAH, for Kyiv residents – 350 UAH. This amount includes the cost of accommodation and meals of tournament participants and team leaders, for the organization and holding of the tournament.

Payment of the organizational fee can be made directly in cash at the place of residence at the cash desk of the organizing committee of the tournament in advance of agreement with the organizing committee, or by October 15, 2014, transfer cashless to the account of the Charitable Foundation "Athena".
